Paris Part 1 - Eiffel Tower and Seine Cruise

I am finally getting this post up after dividing into several parts. This part is about our visit to the Eiffel Tower and the cruise on Seine.

As I said in the earlier post, we took the train everywhere and really enjoyed seeing the city that way. We took a train from the airport to our hotel - Hotel Eiffel Seine which was a block away from the Eiffel Tower. It is a great hotel but with teeny tiny rooms. Since we were spending most of our time outside, I wasn't really concerned about this. But the location was well worth the $200 a night price tag. After we got down at our stop, I was staring at the map trying to find our hotel while my husband was unusually quiet. I looked up to see what he was doing and apparently he was waiting for my reaction because lo behold -

I am ashamed to admit I squealed!
I was so excited that the tower was so close and we ran to our hotel to drop off the suitcases and with no directions whatsoever, just walked towards the Eiffel Tower. Of course, I stopped to wear my "first date with eiffel tower" outfit.

The Eiffel Tower was packed with tourists. If you disengaged from what was going around you, you could have a fun experience. The tower itself is beautiful and looks like steel gray lace against the sky.
We didn't go up the Eiffel Tower the same day. Instead we opted to go on the cruise and the top the next day and just hung out around the Eiffel Tower on the first day. We made sure to have some crepes and fries.

The next evening, we took the cruise on the Seine. We boarded the boat opposite to the Eiffel Tower. It was a one hour cruise which gave us a view of a number of tourist spots from the water.

It was a fun experience and the Eiffel Tower may be over-rated but the way it stands against the skyline and the picture perfect beauty is just amazing!
