Strawberry Topped Cake

Don't you love it when the weekend is over and you still get to relax? Memorial Day weekend was an awesome affair here. It was also the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge and we had a great celebrating the event.  Of course, the disrupted bus service meant we had to walk 4 miles to a bus stop with service and then wait 2 hours for a bus to show up. All in all not a minute of boredom here.

So coming to this cake.. Yes, I did buy more berries from the farmer's market again. Why not! when there are so many delicious recipes to try?

Spring Trends: Tulip Skirts

Hey guys! How has your week been so far? Mine has been very productive in the studies front and the home front. I baked my first bread today. It was.. um.. an experience. More on that in the Monday cooking column. For now, its wednesday and so, lets get shopping! I really wanted to highlight tulip skirts today. Its a good alternative to some of the ridiculous hi-lo hems that I've seen cropping up.

Tomato Rasam and Roast Potatoes

This week, I would like to share a very classic South-Indian recipe with all of you. Which is the tomato rasam. For those of you, who don't know what it is, it is a clear soup with tomato and some mild spices. Rasam is sometimes used as a medicine too. Its that healthy.

What I'm wearing to Cannes!

First of all, I'm really humbled and thankful for all your support and warmth in the last post. Also, a very enthusiastic hello to all the new readers! Welcome!
With that out of the way, on a lighter note, its sad that my Spaghetti and Veggie meatballs drowned in the depth of the last post. So, please take a moment and give this very tasty dish its moment in the spotlight! You will not regret it.
Now onwards to the post. So, no of course I'm not going to Cannes. So, swallow the huge AS IF! in your mind and join me in dreaming.

Things I'm afraid to tell you!

Not very shiny. Some plain old truth. Read on if you dare.

Spaghetti with veggie meatballs

Remember the stuffed capsicums?  I had a half a packet of that veggie beef mince (tofu mince). That is how this recipe was born. I didn't source this recipe from anywhere. Just common sense and lot of time at hand. It tasted very very good though. Perfect crunchy compliment to a creamy pasta.

Egg boat!

Ever wondered what to do with a super sized baguette? This would be a good recipe for that.

Ingredients -
Baguette bread
1/2 cup milk
Eggs - 3-5
Toppings - I used peppers and onions and thyme and cheese.
Salt and pepper

Method -

Make a v cut on top of the bread and tear out the middle of the bread.

Whisk together milk , eggs and toppings  with the bread you removed.

Pour this in the bread and bake in a preheated oven at 400F for 30 mts.

I fried the onions and peppers together for sometime because I hate their partially cooked taste. I also would have preferred a more moist bread. Maybe let the bread soak in the mixture for some time and then bake it.

As promised - its only 3 steps. You would get  a workout tearing out the bread because, man, its tough. But otherwise its a fun and easy dinner. I also made a gravy, so we dunked this in the gravy and that multiplied the flavour and increased the moisture. You could try that too if you find it too dry. Let me know if you like it.

Spring Essentials: Multi Colour Stripes

After last month's haul in all shapes and colours, you thought I would probably stay away from stripes, didn't you? Well, thats what my husband thought! This trend is what did not let me! Stella McCartney's deck chair - inspired stripes seemed one of her unique ideas but suddenly I am seeing these multi colour stripes everywhere. They seem the ideal thing to pair with those nude and white jeans, blazers and accessories, we all stocked up on. Check out the pictures below and click on them to shop!

How not to love this? That Pim+Larkin skirt is so adorable. I would buy each on of them , if I had the money. Since I don't I would probably go for the neon sublimated stripe top from Charlotte Russe and the Pim + Larkin skirt. So much love!

And because its friday and I haven't done a styling post for some time , lets use this opportunity.

Alice+Olivia skirt - $295
Vivienne Westwood Anglomania top- $$215
Tory Burch espadrille sandals - $185
J.Crew clutch - $98
J.Crew necklace - $50

I loved this Alice + Olivia skirt, the minute I saw it. I wanted to go for a bohemian look without looking busy. So, I paired the skirt with a simple peasant top from Vivienne Westwood. The Tory Burch espadrille sandal was pretty much a match made in heaven. The J.Crew clutch pulled in the nude part of the sandals and the skirt together while complimenting the colours of the skirt. The J.Crew mint green bead necklace highlighted the green which was at the risk of being overshadowed by the yellow. I chose to not highlight the orange part of the skirt.
While this look is playful, just swapping the clutch for a nude quilted one would take it to elegant. How do you like this look? Which pieces would you go for? And would you get into the multi coloured stripes trend?

Spring Essentials - Short Suits

Did you notice this trend? I absolutely love it. I was getting bored with all the denim shorts.  So here is a surefire way to bring some sophistication to the "shorts" trend. I would ideally buy a neutral colour since you never know when a trend is going to pass. But the printed ones are just to catchy. So go bold if you are a "shorts" person. Here are a few short suits that caught my eye lately! Click on the pictures to shop them.

If you are an outfit blogger and you have tried out this trend, do post the links in the comments, I would love to check them out!
