Strawberry Topped Cake

Don't you love it when the weekend is over and you still get to relax? Memorial Day weekend was an awesome affair here. It was also the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge and we had a great celebrating the event.  Of course, the disrupted bus service meant we had to walk 4 miles to a bus stop with service and then wait 2 hours for a bus to show up. All in all not a minute of boredom here.

So coming to this cake.. Yes, I did buy more berries from the farmer's market again. Why not! when there are so many delicious recipes to try?

The recipe comes straight from Martha Stewart here. I reduced the sugar to half cup and used whole wheat flour instead of plain flour. Used 5 tbsps instead of 6 of butter.

The cake is so so yum warm from the oven. I love that its a one step cake with no need to add a topping or frosting.

You could easily substitute the strawberries for any other fruit. I'm sure the results would be fabulous. Do let me know if there are any other simple one step cakes out there.

Thank you for reading!!

XO
