Reader's royal wish..

The dressing up for the Royal wedding continues as we have Meenakshi selecting her outfit today. She has selected this gorgeous Dior dress with Louboutins to complement it.

The raspberry coloured dress has a fitted silhouette with a beautiful puffy sleeve and a scooped neckline.  The Lady glitter singbacks from Christian Louboutin have a sparkly upper with the trademark red sole and almost 6 inches of extra height. Just the kind of carriage required for a royal wedding..

What I'm wearing to the Royal Wedding...

Yeah, I wish.. Still, a girl can dream, can't she? I've been spending the last few days having a ball selecting outfits to wear to the royal wedding. Having made up my mind atlast, I present to you, my look if I had the invite..

There you go.. I would be wearing this stunning and too perfect for words fuchsia dress from Lela Rose. I would be on trend wearing this dress from the spring collection. The dress has a beautiful structural pleat in the skirt. Its full skirted which is my favourite and it has a beautiful gauze belt to nip you at the waist. When I'm standing in a room full of royalty, the only way I could hope to stand out is with a hat. Not just any hat.. This amazing and absolutely lustworthy hat from Philip Treacy. The beautiful hat has a floral detail with plum and green petals. I would pull together this look with the bronze glitter sing-backs from Jimmy Choo. The green of the hsoes tie in beautifully with the green petals of the hat. I would add in simple studs and be free of jewellery and leave my hat to do all the talking. What do you think? Good enough for royalty??
Post links of your outfits to the royal wedding in the comments section. I will try to feature them in the blog. Even if we cant go to the wedding, we sure can play dress up...

Chocolat....

I was surprised to find I have not featured a lot of brown in this blog, considering how yummy it looks when done right. Here is one sweet treat.

This stunning and delicious chocolate dress is from the Marc Jacobs spring collection. Its a one shouldered dress with a cap sleeve on the other shoulder.  The dress has a beautiful brown and burgundy flower belt which was characteristic of this colelction. Asymmetric hem length gives it that lightness and flow. Wear the Gucci metallic python multi strap sandals to complement the brown with a dark gold. I added this McQueen brown clutch with the golden hardware and embedded red stones. The brown and red complements the belt of the dress. A flowery dress done the goth way.

>Neon Glow..

>
Working last season's pieces into this season requires a lot of thought. Pick the right season trend. Neon is big this season with Miu-Miu, Christopher Kane and Proenza Scouler working it into their collections.

Watching all this SATC has left me with a thirst for a yummy Halston Heritage. First up, this beautiful, playful lime-green ruffles playsuit.  Its a light silk-chiffon, perfect for the summer. Go all out and enhance this look with these neon-pink braided leather wedges also from Halston Heritage. Add this Jimmy Choo Candy acrylic clutch in neon-pink to tie in this look together. Go easy on the jewellery and just add a bold pink lip or nails to finish the look. A bright and colourful look, perfect for this spring.

Its all in black and white..

Winter whites has continued into spring whites. To avoid looking white-washed, edge out your look. Even the most romantic dress could be made chic and edgy with the right accessories.

The dress is a romantic elegant dress from Valentino. Its an open knit tank dress with a ruffled hem. Very lady like and very spring. Now carry along this beautiful Jimmy Choo Brix leather and snakeskin clutch with buckles. The pale gold of the buckles are taken up by the stitch detail in the Proenza Schouler Lizard effect leather pumps. Add a stack of gold bangles and you have a simple and edgy spring look... in just plain black and white.

Into the blue...

We continue our exploration of Pre-Fall looks in this post. This time, I opted for this beautiful dress from the Fendi collection.

This gorgeous two tone dress from the Fendi Pre-Fall collection embraces the on trend color blocking. The light blue jacquard bodice teams with a crepe de chien dark blue skirt with a nude braided belt. Pair it with these nude Mesh Cage platform sandal from Jimmy Choo for an easy and chic day look. With a bateau neck, cap sleeves and draped back, jewellery would be unnecessary. Carry a nude clutch to comeplete the look. Spring time fresh and clean all the way.

Changing Seasons...

In today's post, we have two designers I have never featured before in the blog. I cant believe I haven't because they are two of my favourites. Here is a look from the Pre Fall collection from the uber talented Naeem Khan.

Naeem Khan's prefall collection is daring. Who else would put gold leather flower appliques on a beautiful satin evening dress? The result is picture perfect. The subtle gloss of the leather is enhanced by the deep burgandy of the dress. The simple V neck dress cap sleeves and a sheath silhouette is paired simply with these gld Manolo Blahniks. The gold is a subtle powder gold rather than a flashy sequin gold, so it should go perfectly with the dress. Minimise the accessories. A simple gold stud or ring would allow the dress to do all the talking.

White hot summer..

The secret to wearing a great LWD is to have the perfect accessories. Here is a white hot look for your summer.

This stunning Versace spring 2011 dress is perfection in its simplicity. A simple white cotton-pique dress with a nude patent trim. We could go for a solid bright pump and clutch but I would suggest these beautiful dual tone red and white patent leather Miu Miu sandals.Carry an elegant Reed Krakoff  boxer leather  envelope clutch to complete the look. You have your own simple but chic look to flaunt.

>An Easy A...

>
Work hard to look good ... dont let the it show though. Its got to look effortless..

Nothing looks more effortless than Halston. This kimono like dress is embellished with sequins which are interspersed with touches of red sequins. Play off the random red by pairing the dress with these Alexandre Birman python peep toes. Carry the Jimmy Choo bright red tube patent leather clutch. Effortlessly stunning.. yeah , thats the catch phrase.

Color block me happy...

When in doubt, go nude. When not in doubt, pair nude with colour.

When I saw this gorgeous and quirky Miu Miu woven leather bag, I knew it needed a plain canvas to showcase those turquoise blue touches. I could have gone with a neutral coloured dress if i hadnt seen this amazing Giambattista Valli color block dress with the coral tulip skirt and nude jersey top. The orange of the bag complemets the dress well. Tone it down and wear this look with nude sandals/pumps. Or go a little OTT with these beautiful sandals from Vivienne Westwood. Again a nude and orange color block. Matchy matchy may not be a good thing ..  but these seem made for each other.. Its all upto you to work it now..

>I can and I will...

>
Thats the answer to the question, Can you work a bright neon?? This colour is making the rounds this season, here is a way to add the brightness to your wardrobe.

First up is this fantastic chiffon dress from Proenza Shouler. A sheer white dress with black and neon trim makes it simple yet chic. Add these contrast silver and neon green wedges from Jill Sander to tie in the look. Im adding this gun metal finish Falabella clutch from Stella Mccartney. The gun metal will look good against a sheer dress better than a solid black is what I feel. Edgy and fun.

Goth Queen..

its time for a triple McQueen delight. Dark, gothic, magical and mesmerising ... yes.. Boring and safe.. never!!!

The centrepoint of the dress is the .... shoe ofcourse. Stunning sculpted metallic wedges by Alexander McQueen. They are so attention grabbing and so unique , pair them with a simple black dress, like this dress , again from McQueen. The fine knit dress is one shouldered with a leather belt and gold buckle for a strap. Just to tie in with the gold of the sandals. Add this beautiful McQueen clutch in brown crocodile with gold studs and red stone embellishments. Now thats how you were a black dress.

Grey Zone..

People complain I dont use much of grey and black in my posts. So here is a fun grey look for the spring.

The dress in this outfit is a beautiful sequined Alice and Olivia bustier with a draped skirt, forming a single dress. Pair this sexy strapless dress with this beautiful Emilio de la Moreno yellow cutout suede jacket. The jacket has long sleeves , so just push them up. Its cropped, so its not hiding too much of this sexy outfit.  To bring the look together slip into and have fun with these beautiful Pierre Hardy color block shoes. The grey and yellow wedges are spot on this season with their fun color blocking. They are patent leather and canvas sandals. So suitably light. You could do away with the jacket and add a yellow python clutch too , if you'd like. Play around with colours.. The world never looked good in monochrome.

>Shades of the Earth..

>
Victoria Beckham always gets her colours right. Both her spring and autumn collection have been filled with luscious colours. I picked a look from her spring season and instead of contrasting it, I worked with deeper colours of the same shade.

This bright orange dress from Victoria Beckham's spring collection has a simple and clean silhouette. It has an asymmetric neckline and beautiful curved seams for that body fitting look. The colour is bright enough to be worn with simple nude pumps. But you can also work it with these deep rust Cosmic python pumps from Jimmy Choo. Avoiding jewellery to keep it clean and nice, I would simply add this very rich Nancy Gonzalez Croc Frame Clutch. Working with various shades of the same palette is tricky but you cannot make a mistake with this one.

An India Princess..

Gucci, Fendi, Prada.. they come close but rarely do they beat the sheer elegance and luxury of a silk sari.. As much as I envy people who grabbed the latest runway looks this season, they would envy me back for my timesless collection of vintage and modern silk saris.. If you want to build your own collection, here is a start..

The sari is a stunning peacock blue and green from RMKV. The sari and border are a pure silk. The body features traditional  leaf pattern in thread jacquard work. The model is decked out to look bridal.. you may want to lighten the look with just these stunning emerald and sapphire jhumkas from Rasvihar. The jhumkas are 18carat gold and are zig zag rather than the usual bell or cup shaped which add a modern twist.  Keeping with the lightness , go for these really simple gold heels from Metro Shoes. They feature a single diamante strap and a holding ankle strap. Feel free to add as many blue and green and gold bangles as you would like. there you are, an Indian princess in the making..
