Oasis...

The furthest thing from your mind in spring would be a desert.. Think of the desert with a burnt orange sunset, with dry green grass and pythons  hiding from the sun. Think of a glimmer of an oasis with crystal blue water. That picture in your mind, translate it to your wardrobe.. like this..

First up is this stunning Gucci burnt orange dress. The crepe dress has beautiful tassle ties which have a hint of blue beads. I would play up the blue with this deep blue wooden studded lacquered bangle from Marc by Marc Jacobs. The dress would be perfectly complimented by this San Blas python clutch. The clutch chines with the colours of burnt orange, moss green and a deep blue. Add these Barabara Bui python and canvas wedges to keep it light and easy. Now , do you see the picture in your mind, reflected in this outfit??

Feathers and Flowers..

Marc Jacobs has such a lot of super fun and super girly designs. I adored this pink shoe adorned with feathers. Its unashamedly feminine but nt dripping with cuteness. Work it with a pleasant floral print like this one..

These sexy snake sandals from Marc Jacobs spring 2011 collection. The suede sandals snake up your leg and are adorned with orange and pink feathers all the way up. These sandals would go well with the romantic floral print silk-chiffon dress from Giambattista Valli. The heavier pink of the flowers blends with the soft suede of the shoes. Pair this look with a bright orange Bottega Veneta Knot Intrecciato clutch. The orange of the clutch brings out the orange feather in the sandal. A flirty , feminine and fun look for the spring.

There is a Spring in my step..

When florals became the norm of spring, leave it to Stella Mccartney to introduce yummy citrus prints that makes you stand apart. I'm loving these juicy designs which are features in dresses, tops, skirts and a falabella bag. I built this outfit with a citrus print dress.. feel free to throw things and the colour schemes around and build your own..

This beautiful dress by Stella McCartney is a halter neck with a double front slit and an open back. A lot of skin showing, perfect for spring. You can give the sweet citrus print an edge with these Alaia Studdes leather tie up sandals. The slits in the dress will let you showcase the sexy sandals. Pair it with a Chloe Paraty small leather tote. Alternatively, you can also pair this dress with nude wedges and a bright orange bag. Play with colours.. It is after all the season of colour..

Its all Greek to me...

The last couple of days, I've been unable to work since I was smitten by Erdem dresses. I needed the jolt that this stunning Versace gives me when I look at it.

The famous Versace print in a simple black dress with a bright blue motif. The dress is super super sleek with no romance and all sexy. I played off another Versace greek print dress with white, blue and red prints by combining this look with  a statement coral necklace by Nest. The clean neckline ought to help you carry off this standout piece. For shoes, A versace is perfect when paired with its mate. Hence the greek printed Versace  wedges with white and blue greek prints. The wedge has the red symbols I was talking about. A fantastic look for the woman who believes in "tough love".

Check Mate..

Living in India, I've grown to love the heavily embellished ethnic designs I usually see in Fashion Week. In the midst, Masaba is like a breath of fresh air with her very playful and very vibrant prints. Her clothes are quirky and interesting and I'm thrilled to feature the young designer here.

This refreshing dress hot off the runway features a quirky "feet print" all over with a deep centre split. The split is lined by a bright orange border which runs all the way to the waist and continues over to the back. The back is open with a single diagonal strap. Going for plain orange or black shoes was too predictable, so I picked these gorgeous, sexy Marni shoes, to go with this fabulous dress. The Marni checked leather and acetate platforms are playful enough to go with the dress without taking the focus off it. I added this Missoni crochet knit bangle with orange and black and white checks. The three of them look like they were made for each other. I just had a  true "fun with fashion" moment

Not Cheap, Very Chic..

Light, fun to wear dresses are my favourite. Clean silhouettes with the right accessories elevate a simple dress to a red carpet worthy look. Case in point, this simple, unfussy dress from Moschino Cheap and Chic.

A simple and pretty pink dress with a very stunning petal trim on the hem. The organza petal tier adds weight in the bottom, so the top part would have some structure when you wear it. You can wear this beautiful dress with nude or brown accessories and let the dress do all the talking. If you wanna work it even harder, with these grey/silver sandals from Kors, Michael Kors.  The Lomita leather slingbacks have this beautiful shine and the straps have this feathered effect that makes it light enough to be worn this light dress. Add some bling with the Rivere de Strass earrings from Lanvin.. A flirty and fun outfit for the summer evenings out.

A salute to the Japan..

Origami, the art of  paper folding has been a gift to the world from Japan. Origami has been incorporated in couture and RTW over the many years.. Here is refreshing take on the origami trend with the latest in accessories.

This sexy deep green Antonio Berardi is a beautiful example of origami in RTW. The folds aroung the neck form an interesting point in the body fitting crepe dress.  I would wear them with any kind of pumps as the green is so rich and forms a beautiful backdrop to various colours. Still, I would suggest these stunning rose gold Giuseppe Zanotti slingbacks. Gold always forms an elegant combination with green. And this rose gold forms a twist on the combo. The sexy heels can be accented with the beautiful fold-over Halston Heritage rose gold clutch. Just a simple day look, except that you would be scorchingly chic in a rose gold perfection.

Happy Holi!!!!

Its Holi here in India.. A festival of colors. There is a riotous celebration with people starting out dressed in white and ending the day absolutely multicolored. Keeping in spirit with this beautiful festival, I present to you a riot of colour.

First off is this very pretty pink top from Antik Batik. The scrumptious water melon coloured top is made of a light silk-chiffon which is perfect for summer. The top includes a cute multicoloured tasseled tie  with puffed long sleeves which is so very playful. Pair it with these very comfortable and very chic harem pants in a bright blue silk-crepe. A playful summer look with an Indian spin on it. To complete the look and take it to the next level, go for these gorgeous flat sandals from Giambattissta Valli. They are made of cream leather and orange twill with silver metallic ankle cuffs. Take inspiration and have fun with colour this summer. For a simpler look, you can pair any of these looks with white/neutrals.

Have a Bright day..

If you'd like to Carrie Bradshaw your way into your workplace,  I suggest you look at this outfit. A simple day look brightened by a lovely flower..

The centre point of this look is this sweet Embellished flower belt from Lanvin. It would liven up any colour but I chose to go with this blue boat neck sheath dress from Lela Rose. Of course you can wear nice pumps or peep toes with this but quirky that I am, I would go for this really unique "Measuring Tape" sandal from Christian Louboutin. It has a unique measuring tape design with a halter ankle strap. The slight yellow of the straps goes with the yellow of the flower. A look to make you standout on any day.

Dare to do Fuchsia?

Fashion dreams are made of tons of tulle and lace. The dream is captured in this stunning Lela Rose skirt. Its taken me days to find the perfect top and shoes for this beauty. Let me know what you think of it. Its a tricky look to pull off.

This stunning tiered tulle fantasy is from Lela Rose. The ombre full skirt features a fuchsia, pink and warm pastels. This ultimate standout piece needed a quiet canvas.. Hence this beautiful draped silk blend top from 3.1 Phillip Lim. The top is asymmetrically draped with an open back. The colour takes up from the beautiful pastels in the skirt. Since the skirt is full and fall below the knee rather than full length, I would opt for these dramatic Christian Louboutins in a deep fuchsia as opposed to nude or pastel sandals. A dramatic entry assured. You can buy this gorgeous skirt for US$ 4995.00 from http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/109164. The top is available for US$ 425.00 from http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/97826 . The sandals are on a discount of 50% at a price US$ 645.00. You can buy them from http://www.theoutnet.com/product/68976

Vintage Queen...

I found this stunning vintage gown on our favourite vintage place - Decades. I put the rest of the items I had on my list on the backburner to put together a look with this dress..

This  stunning burgundy beauty is designed by the little known designer Bill Tice. Designed in the 1970s, it holds the easy glamor of that age. The sexy plunging neck and the deep center split along with the bare back make it very relevant today. Add in the gold lame belt for tightening the waist., we have with us a dress which is a dream. I added in these stunning Brian Atwood "Randye" sandals which seem to be made for the dress. The sandal has a deep burgundy suede top with a gold , crystal embellished folded tier detail with an open toe. Not as heavy as a pump, not as light as a strappy sandal. The coverage of the sandal is just perfect for a long dress with a deep slit. To finish the look, I would add this beaded coil bracelet from ABS by Allen Schwartz jewellery. The tiny rectangular beads resemble the gold lame belt from the dress. The halter dress longs for some earrings, so add in a gold stud or chandelier and voila... Who is the queen now??
You can buy the dress from Decades - http://decadesinc.blogspot.com/2008/09/en-tice-you.html
The Brian Atwood sandals are at a discounted price of US$ 464.00 and you can buy them from the following link, http://www.theoutnet.com/product/214395
The beaded bracelet can be bought for US$ 150.00 from the followign link,

>Issa dream...

>
I've had my eye on Issa for quiet sometime now. The brand makes such effortlessly draped dresses which scream red carpet. So here is an elegant outfit , I put together. Feel free to do it the sameway or take inspiration from the colours and the clothes themselves and build your own little Issa dream.

An elegant column dress in a rich turquoise colour with a knotted detail in the front to cinch in that waist is the centrepiece of this outfit. Its a  classic silhouette and your accessories have to have the subtlety of the dress. You could work with colours like coral, maroon and black or go matchy with the accessories. I chose to go with a purple and gold. I chose these big drop amethyst earrings from Monica Vinader. They are 18K gold, handmade amethyst earrings suitable only for pierced ears. Match it up with the gorgeous Gucci Kelly sandals in purple and gold. The sandal is made of a velvetty suede and metallic python strap with a 4.5" heel. The dress calls for strappy sandals .. so there is no question of pumps or chunky heels. Altogether a pretty beautiful package, I think.. what do you think??
The dress can be bought for US$ 500.00 from http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/103423

Made for each other...

When Lanvin made this gorgeous dress in the 1980s, little did they know that Fendi was gonna make the perfect shoe to go with that dress 30 years later..

This fantastic dress features a deep purple brocade silk with a black floral lace. The neck is a very Louis Vuitton look with  off-the- shoulder straps. The skirt is full with a black tulle and lace under-laid. The dress is from Lanvin made in the 80s and is a modern size 4. Do contact Decades on this page to buy this dress. The full skirt is so playful that I had to think of injecting a couple more colours to make this look a lot of fun. You could wear black or purple pumps or sandals but I would go for this pretty color-blocked Fendi sandals.  The sandal has a purple grosgrain top with bright yellow straps and a red and brown heel. This beautiful color blocked sandal can be yours for US$ 740.00. You can buy it from the following link,

Tropical delights..

I'm absolutely lusting after these sexy Dior Tahiti Sandals.. Been trying to find the perfect dress for it for almost a month, trust me.. I present to you, the fruits of my labour atlast..

The rich exotic colours would work well with  a plain black or red dress too. But I wanted to see how much more we can make it work. And atlast I found this beautiful, stunning Jason Wu dress. First, the platform.. Its a Dior Spring 2011 look. You can see from the collection, the shoe appears in a lot of different colours. The shoe is a rich mixture of purple with red ribbons to wrap around your legs. It has a bright orange heal and a contrasting toe. The platform is a bright turquoise. An ultimate stunner, don't u think? Now to the dress.. Its a beautiful tulle and taffeta dress from Jason Wu. It has a sheer tulle overlay with a round neck and cap sleeves. The skirt is a purple taffeta. It has a deep scooped back and a gathering at the waist. It features a contrast belt n red satin with black bead embroidery. >Glowing in Neon..

>
Its not everyday we see pops of neon green in everyday dressing. To encourage you to use more of this standout colour, I have built this quirky ensemble..

Perfect for spring time.. The beautiful dress is from Diane von Furstenberg. Its a silk-chiffon ruffled mini with a grey body and a lemon green trim to give it that pop. It has plain black straps and a black back. It would be wishful thinking to expect that to be in grey?? Maybe .. but a pretty fun and unusual dress, I think. Now to set off this beauty, you need the right clutch. Enter that absolutely drool-worthy Jimmy Choo hard candy clutch in a NEON green. Its beautiful, its unique.. and it subtly screams for attention.
Since you will be working the dress and the neon green clutch, I would say go for grey peeptoes. Of course, the ideal companion for this clutch would have been this couture look from valentino.. But again, lets work with what we got. The clutch is also available in a neon pink and a couple of metallic colours that I'm not really impressed with. Im trying to find the perfect outfit for the neon pink, in case you prefer that. The sexy DvF dress is yours for US$ 327.00 and the Jimmy Choo clutch for US$ 550.00. You can buy the dress from the following link,
