Arm Party...

I was really excited to see this week's PSS challege for Bloggers do it Better cos here is something I can do atlast..  I have a thing for bangles.. I own them in every colour possible..This is a real ethnic, southern Indian style "arm party". Do not despair if you can never see yourself wearing this. Keep reading to see how you can work with bangles in other ways.

If you are an all out "Party in the USA style girl" and have nothing to do with the word ethnic, you can still work bangles into your look.. here are a couple of examples..

Sci-fi and black nailpolish - your type? A collection of lacquer effect stacked bangle set in black, neon and orange from Asos ought to be perfect for your esthetic. Pair it with a simple black dress like this one from Zara for a lot of high fashion drama.
If you are a Jane Austen and cotton candy kinda gal, could you resist this pretty pink, pastel green and gold stackable bangles? Pair it with this very sweet printed chiffon dress for a soft and romantic look. Both from Asos.

Asos black bangle set - $34.48
Zara Black dress - $39.99
Chiffon printed dress - $44.82
Pieces pink and green bangle set - $27.58

Flame on..

I dont know about you.. but I think women look oh so sexy in a red dress and black stockings.. not fish nets just basic stockings.. I love love love that look.. Here is a simple way to look the part...

The way to work this look is to pick semi-sheer tights like this one. Avoid fishnets, they mostly look tackly.. and avoid full opaque.. they might make you look short and stocky. Pair it with a red midi length dress for the right look. the dress ought to have clean lines like this dress here. It has a simple cowl neck to prevent the dress from falling too flat. I think all these looks look great with black high heeled peeptoes. I believe firmly that peeptoes are always better than pumps. They dont make you look closed off.. Add a simple black clutch to finish off this red hot look.

Asos Red dress - $60.34

Black semi sheer tights - $13.79

Asos black peeptoes - $43.10

Asos B lack clutch - $25.86

Neons are famous for the last couple of seasons and paraded by designers like Jimmy Choo, Halston heritage, Proenza shouler and so many more.. If you want a more affordable way to work neon into your wardrobe, read on...

This beautiful neon shift dress comes with a scooped neckline and bracelet length sleeves. It features a cute tie on the side of the ruching in the hip. Ginnifer went for a black belt but for a colour this bright, a beautiful soft brown would make the perfect company. Pair it with this elegant woven clutch again from Asos and finish the look with beautiful high heeled sandals in a warm brown from Zara.

High Fashion - Oceanic..

Accessorising within the same colour family is a very good idea. It looks very put together and you avoid jarring contrasts. We have done this before with this fabulous Victoria Beckham dress. I wanted to try this with blue this time.

The look started off with this gorgeous pair of earrings from Kenneth Jay Lane. The earrings play up with different shades of turquoise and deep blue. Pair it with this deep blue Rag and Bone "Charlotte" dress in satin. The dress and earrings will be perfectly set off this Christian Louboutin "Loubi" clutch in teal satin with gold hardware. Finish it up these embellished Bernardo sandals for the that extra sparkle. The sandals are beautifully embellished with stones in delicate shades of blue and pink-gold.

Rag and bone - crepe-satin dress - $395

Kenneth Jay Lane earrings - $100

Christian Louboutin satin clutch - $795

Pink Shock...

Would you do a monochrome outfit? Not in black, beige or silver.. in a shocking pink.. Well, I havent had the courage till now but I think I now do.. check out this outfit and tell me what you think..

I was surprised to  see a box pleated, hot pink, midi length skirt from Preen this season. So 80s, I think. There is thin strip of grey in the waist. Its pretty obvious , going for  a grey top. I wanted to be a little different and add another hot pink top from Vivienne Westwood. The silhouette is very loose and easy in contrast to the uniform like box pleats. I added these gorgeous Jil Sander pumps with the contrast heel for a flash of pink when you walk and a somber grey topwhen you are posing still. Add in this Alexander Wang leather fold over clutch in grey. To pull the look together and break the shock of pink, I added this Dannijo Isabella Silver plated tangled chain necklace. what do you think? Could you work this?

Vivienne Westwood top - $355

Preen pleated skirt - $1280

Alexander Wang clutch - $580

Dannijo Necklace - $495

Jil Sander contrast sole pump - $525

Chiconomics - Gypsy style..

You dont have to get into credit to work the maxi look. An alternate to maxi dresses are light breezy maxi skirts that look like a million bucks. Here is one such example.

This beautiful pastel floral skirt is the centrepoint of the look. Its long, light and spells summer with every swish. Pair it with a simple white top like this cropped Anglaise cotton top. Opt for light sandals in a blush pink. Avoid clunky heels and pumps. I added this ruffled feather clutch which adds to the whimsy of the whole look. All items are from Asos. A perfectly romantic summer look.

White top - $ 51.72

Floral maxi skirt - $49.99

Blush sandals - $60.34

Maxi-mum impact...

Maxis have a special place in my heart. No time better than summer to rock your fave pastel and bright maxis. Pick one with splashes of bright colour for a fashionable day out.

This beautiful Nanette Lepore maxi is a canvas of bright green, blue and pink. The light cotton "Daphne" maxi has a sweetheart neckline and crisscrossed back. Pair them with simple brown leather thongs like this one from Fitflop. Carry a fun bucket bag from Wayuu Taya  - Mochilla knitted cotton cross body bag in a bright green and pink that compliments the dress. A simple and fun style to liven up your summers.

Mellow Yellow...

I came across the most daring plum coloured jeans today. While I save money to buy it, I did my regular round up of similar clothes in Net-a-Porter, I was astonished by some of the colours.. especially orange, yellow and turquoise.. first up, I wanted to post the yellow ..

I wouldnt dare wear the Ksubi low-rise super skinny yellow jeans with any colour other than black. I do have a sneaking feeling that an electric blue sheer top might be nice.. :D For this outfit, I paired the bright denim with a Halston Heritage ruffled silk halter neck blouse. I wanted to reduce the black , so a handy fringed oversized grey Marni clutch does the trick. To pull in the look, wear the ombre grey and black DVF suede ankle boots. Rosentica citrine earrings add to the pop of yellow. Would you wear brightly coloured denim like this? How would you wear it??
Ksubi jeans - $170
Halston Heritage top - $225
Marni clutch - $715
DVF suede ombre boots - $425
Rosantica citrine earrings - $275

A sudden thirst for lace has gotten into me, ever since I bought this lace top. I realised lace dresses are extemely versatile. You could be sizzle in a sexy red number and be fun and flirty in a cute pink one.

It reminded me that Issa came out with this rainbow hued lace collection. They are so mouth watering, I'm surprised I have not yet posted about them. The beautiful dresses are exclusively available on Net-a-Porter.com and are in limited numbers. So if you are one of the lucky ones with thousand dollars to spare.. rush and buy them.. the red, white and blue are already sold out.

Independence day style...

Stars and stripes and barbeques with a little patriotism thrown in..  Dress up in style this July 4th with this on trend outfit..

Vivenne Westwood's Anglomania red and navy striped top is a perfect cheeky start to this look. Pair it with crisp white jeans from Victoria Beckham denim. Try not to get seduced into wearing too many stars or stripes.. Pair this subtle look with blue patent peeptoes from Jimmy Choo and instead of going matchy matchy, carry along the quiet and sleek silver grey clutch from Diane Von Furstenberg. The grey will do wonders with the blue of the top and shoes. Happy July the 4th everyone..
