Digital fairytales..

It took me some time to get used to the prints used in Mary Katrantzou's designs. Its with caution that I proceed in this post where I feature her designs for the first time.  In spite of that, I admit I'm intrigued by this beautiful dress.

The dress features a very unique print of the inside of a house with two chairs, a table and a window. The dress being so standout, it would be wise to keep the accessories to a minimum and pull your hair back. There are plenty of shoe options and I matched it with the plush velvet hot pink chairs. I would recommend these beautiful pink suede Prada slingback platform peeptoes.  The hot pink chairs and the shoe tie the look together perfectly. What do you think?

Edgy Pink...

Pink doesn't always have to cute and sweet. There are ways to edge out a pink look. Especially when you have shoes like this.

These amazing Jimmy Choo snake and mesh "Magnum Sandals" are the centrepoint of this look. The stunning shoes are pink and sexily so. I would pair them with a strapless playsuit in plain black and white. Enter the beautiful and simple Sass and Bide  "Take Two printed silk playsuit". It would be good to wear this beautiful cropped jacket from Etoile Isabel Marant with the peplum-like detailing in the waist. The jacket and booties cover up what might be a skimpy dress while still keeping it daring and edgy.

Busy with Prints...

A printed dress is a must this season and leave it to Marc Jacobs to find the perfect prints that aren't loud and too cutesy. His prints are sophisticated with a touch of the wild and exotic. If the print seems too dark for summer, lighten it up and have fun with brightly coloured accessories..

This beautiful geometric print dress is from the Marc Jacobs tenth anniversary collection. With blue and black being the predominant colour, it also features a pattern of coral and yellow of which I selected coral as the one to be played up. To brighten up the dress, add in these orange ankle -wrap sandals from Alexandre Birman.  Carry along the Akris horse hair tote also in a coral shade. The simple clean silhouette of the bag compliment the geometric patterns on the dress. A fun dress for the summer and a safe bet, you can work it for winter too.

Emeralds and Cat Eyes..

A blogger is a weird genre of human being making the most amazing mind associations. As I was reading an Agatha Christie novel today, the cat like gleam of Hercule Poirot's eyes reminds of Angelina Jolie's emeralds in the Oscars (I told you.. Weird!!!) and I get an extraordinary thirst for something green. Hence this post with a simple look but with such a rich green for all of you longing for some green.

This stunning bright green jeans is on trend considering the coloured denim we have been seeing all over the place. The beautiful Current/Elliott mid rise jeans is a standout piece in need of a simple canvas. With a choice of a plain black or white tee, I would pick this beautiful cowl necked James Perse t shirt.Carry along this vivid emerald Mulberry satchel for a matchy-matchy look. Add simple Christian Louboutin black pumps to finish the look. For the little drama queen that we all are, add this beautiful Yves Saint Laurent mint green glass ring. For people who cant afford all those emeralds, this should be a good way to quench that thirst.

LBD 101..

A simple black dress doesnt need to be boring even when you pair it with dark colours. As much as I love colour, I'm the first to admit to the elegance of an  understated but stunning look. This outfit is that kind.. Quiet and Powerful..

The simple black fitted jersey dress with a full skirt forms a perfect canvas to show case three outstanding pieces. The stunning Alexander McQueen cap sleeve samurai jacket in a rich purple. The V neck line, structured shoulders and nipped in waist all make the look so chic and sexy. A structured piece like that with the full skirt need these Casadei ruffle-collar tulle pump. Takes the look from sharp to soft. Pair this with the edgy Balmain safety pin clutch. Result would be a sharp romantic.. a girl unafraid of breaking convention.

Oriental Spring...

Cannes and Fan BingBing reminded me a lot of the bright beautiful oriental themes which would be perfect for spring. So here is one such unique look..

This beautiful sarong style dress is from Halston Heritage. The dress is a rich purple reminiscent of oriental themes with a multi colour abstract floral print. To liven up the dress into an evening look, add this beautiful statement necklace from Versace.  Its a 24 karat gold -plated necklace with iridescent Swarovski crystal pendants. Halston Heritage brings to mind Carrie Bradshaw which should also bring to mind Manolo Blahniks. This beautiful printed Mid heel d'orsay  seems made for the dress with the colourful print of yellow, purple, pink and green.

Its yummy chocolate time again. This time in a one shoulder angel sleeve dress from Asos. The dress has a beautiful embellished detail on the gathered shoulder in a rich copper colour. A deep berry shoe like this espadrille keeps the look simple and tied together focussing on the beautiful colour. Accessorise with this copper paillettes embellished clutch for some added glitter and shine. Both shoe and clutch are from Nordtrom. An overall choco look with hints of copper. Leave your neck and ears free to draw the eye to the embellished detail.

Chic does not have to be extravagant. Starting with this post, I'm going to bring you a series of outfits inspired by the designer looks of your favourite previous posts. You can select your favourite designer look and write in. I will do a post on how to build a similar looks for lesser.

Remember that white hot Versace look? You can look like a million bucks for much less. This beautiful sheath dress is simple and classic in its silhouette. Simple, sexy and fun white look to be on trend this season. Without cutting a chunck out of your pocket.

An Angry Homage...

Was it too much to ask for a dramatic, stunning, stops your heart look for the Metropolitan Gala?? McQueen does it well enough with just the clothes. Pick a stunner and accessorise and make yourself up to complement it. Is that too hard, all ye celebrities?? I'm putting together this outfit not as a gentle suggestion. Its an angry homage to McQueen, who deserved a lot more than the feeble attempt to honor him at the Met Gala.

I picked this amazing work of art for the gown fromt he Fall 2010 collection. The blood red gown is embellished heavily with gilded embroidery with a matching cape which you should not even consider removing..I added these Indian juttis which were a feature in the Fall 2008 collection. The shoes feature the similar gilded embroidery that the dress has. These are handworked by Indian artisans. It may lack the label, but its till high on fashion. A dress fit for a Queen who is bold enough to carry it and bolder enought to accessorise it with this heavy kundan jewellery. The beautiful set has a necklace and earrings with precious white kundan stones and deep red drop. The Kundan jewellery is not for the neck, its for the hair. Drape the necklace over your hair. Something like this...

This look is from the beautiful Fall 2008 collection from McQueen.. An Indian inspired collection. I'm simply fusing two aesthetics. A 2010 gown with a cape with a 2008 inspired headpiece. Add the earrings and do not fear the OTT. This is the Met gala. Severely pulled back hair and barely there makeup ought to finish a look and a living homage to the incredibly talented Alexander McQueen. What do you think?

100th post/Reception style...

Its our 100th post!!!!! For such a momentous occasion, I'm taking on the challenge of creating a reception look to top Kate Middleton's. After all the excitement over the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding gown.. which I thought was simple but stunning and absolutely elegant and classic, I was a little let down by the reception look. Maybe it was perfect for her age and position but I would have liked to have a lot more fun in a reception look.

I would probably wear this stunning Carmen Marc Volvo couture dress with a beautiful rosette detail . The dress is also available in blue and red but I think this blush pink with the contrast trim would be perfect for a reception. Of course I would be wearing a hat. A gorgeous Philip Treacy hat also in blush pink. Now that we have two dramatic pieces, we could add these sweet satin Miu Miu sandals with jewelled heels with ankle straps. I would probably just wear a rose gold and diamond drop earring and avoid any other jewellery. A good look for the reception for a 23 year old bride like me, eh?
