The Old Charm ..

In the new age of Kurtis and Mix and match, Traditional salwar-kameez seem old-fashioned. But two of them caught my eye recently. Imagine turning something old and traditional turned into something modern and unique.

The salwar on the left is a gorgeous gorgeous silk number. The traditional beauty of silk saris is in all it splendour complimented with the ease and elegance of a salwar-kameez. The red and gold undertones would look good on any skin colour.. Team it with ethnic antique gold jewellery.. shoulder grazing chandelier earrings perhaps.. and prepare to set the party on fire..
The second Salwar is a stunning black, off-white and turquoise medley. I particularly like the turquoise accents. Its a versatile colour and i could easily imagine wearing chunky aquamarine jewellery or  adelicate long necklace.
You can get the silk one for INR 1891 from the link
You can get the black salwar-kameez for INR 1599 from here
Have fun shopping..

Speaking of peacocks..

Did anyone follow the Ms.Universe contest??? I feel its popularity may be waning these days.. Still.. for those of you , who havent heard.. The winner of this year's pageant is Ms.Mexico, Jimena Navarrete Rosete..
This years national costumes were hilarious (mostly)  stylish (rarely).
Indian beauty , Ushoshi Sengupta posed in blue peacock styles dress .. designed by the Kolkata duo Dev R Nil

The dress puzzles me. It is obviously designed as a lehenga-choli. The wrap seems awkward. Nothing but the colours seem to be inspired by the peacock. It also seems heavy and over worked. Nothing light and delicate as a peacock. It makes me really sad that this is the representation for India's national costume.

Dance of the peacock

Western and Indian fashion dont fuse in clothing alone.. They also do in jewellery.. Case in Point - This beautiful peacock necklace from the House of Harlow - From the (now) famous Nicole Richie..

The pendant is amazing in its Indian-ness considering it comes form an American designer..I can imagine it easily enough with an beautiful blue sar or kurta. It would just as perfectly with a turquoise cocktail dress. You can buy this for $110 from They ship internationally for free for any prouct above $100. So it s a great deal. I cant wait to get my hands on it. Beat me to it..

Beautify your life!

You have two options this monsoon. Fade away in the rain wearing neutrals - black , beige or grey. Or stand out and make a statement with this fabulous peachy kurti..

I came across this beautiful dress in Femella Fashions.. Its a beautiful colour which will make u stand out in the grey days of this monsoon. The peach kurti is complimented by intricate black embroidery along the yoke, hem and sides. Team it with black lace leggings or capris for an evening out. Accessorise with crystal earrings and maybe go easy on the neckpieces to draw attention to the embroidery.Go on and add some beauty to your life.. Cheers...
